The primary motivation for this website is to make publicly available a comprehensive database of reference standard datasets for objective and consistent evaluation of deformable image registraion (DIR) spatial accuracy. Surface renderings, representative cine loops, and summary characteristics of the currently available cases are shown in the "Reference Data" tab. Investigators are encouraged to sign up (for free) on this website to download the reference data provided below. Note that you must provide your user password to access the available files.

For each available case, a zip file is provided that includes the set of 10 component phase CT images in Pinnacle TPS raw *.img format (Philips Medical Systems, Andover, MA). All images are 16-bit integer class. Also included with each case are 2 text files containing coordinate information for the reference landmarks on the extreme phase images (T00 and T50). The text files are of the form:

  • "caseID_300_T00_xyz.txt", and
  • "caseID_300_T50_xyz.txt".

These files each contain a list of XYZ coordinate landmark locations, in which rows between the two files correspond. Details regarding the coordinate system and phase1-phase2 correspondence are available in pdf form in the "Format Doc" link below. For each case, the "300_phase_xyz" text files contain coordinate information for a uniform sample of 300 of the total quantity of landmarks reported in Table 1. These points may be used to derive 300 individual measurements of DIR spatial accuracy for each case, which are suitable for algorithm optimization or development purposes. Currently, the complete sets of landmark pairs are not available for download. For error assessment over the set of landmarks, investigators are encouraged to upload DIR outputs for each case, from which we will obtain the error information.

Additionally, coordinate information has now been provided for intermediate component phase images. For each reference case, additional text files are provided of the form:

  • "caseID_4D-75_T00_xyz.txt",
  • "caseID_4D-75_T10_xyz.txt",
  • "caseID_4D-75_T20_xyz.txt", etc.

These files are formatted as described above, and contain a sample of 75 of the total quantity of landmarks for each case, propagated onto multiple phase images. Currently, reference trajectories are only available on phases T00 through T50 (i.e., the exhalation phases of the 4D CT). We ask that use of any or all of these data sets for publication purposes include reference to the original work describing our methodology and generation of the landmark sets provided on this site. A description of reference cases 6 through 10, as well as the sampled landmark trajectories can be found in the following reference:

We are working to provide additional user-friendly and robust packages for manual landmark registration, statistical evaluation of DIR spatial accuracy, and deformable image registration. Please check back, as we will continually update this site as packages become available.
